Overview
Two Parks, Two Worlds, Four Perfect Days
This itinerary pairs Kenya's two most celebrated wildlife destinations. The Maasai Mara needs no introduction — it is simply one of the best places on earth to see big cats, with multiple lion prides, leopards in the riverine forests and cheetahs on the plains. You spend two full days here, giving you four game drives and the opportunity to explore different sectors of the reserve.
Lake Nakuru offers a completely different experience. The soda lake, when conditions are right, is rimmed with pink as thousands of flamingos feed on algae. The park is a fenced rhino sanctuary — your best chance in Kenya to see both black and white rhino. Rothschild's giraffes, waterbucks and the rare climbing lion of the yellow acacia forest add to an extraordinary final day.

- How does Lake Nakuru compare to the Maasai Mara? They are completely different ecosystems. The Mara is open savannah — big skies, endless plains, classic safari landscapes. Lake Nakuru is more intimate — a soda lake surrounded by acacia forest and rocky escarpments. The wildlife is different too: Nakuru is one of Kenya's best places for rhinos (both black and white), while the Mara is unsurpassed for big cats. Together they offer a remarkably complete Kenyan wildlife experience in just four days.
- What is the road transfer like between parks? The drive from the Mara to Nakuru takes approximately 5–6 hours. It is a scenic journey through the Great Rift Valley, passing small towns, tea plantations and Maasai grazing lands. Your guide makes stops for photographs, coffee and lunch. The vehicle is a comfortable Land Cruiser with fridge and charging points. Some guests opt to fly from the Mara to Nairobi and drive from there, which we can arrange at supplementary cost.
