Overview
Safari Intensity, Beach Serenity — The Perfect Seven-Day Rhythm
This carefully balanced itinerary delivers the best of both Tanzanian worlds. You begin with four concentrated wildlife days — Tarangire's elephants, a full day in the Ngorongoro Crater, and a deep Serengeti experience. Then you switch gears entirely, flying to Zanzibar for three days of white sand, turquoise water and Swahili culture.
The transition from safari intensity to beach serenity is one of travel's most satisfying rhythms. By day three on Zanzibar, you are swimming with dolphins, sailing on a dhow at sunset and wandering the spice-scented lanes of Stone Town — the wildlife already feeling like a beautiful dream, but the tan lines as proof it really happened.;;;;

Useful Information
- Best Time to Go June–October and December–March. Avoid April–May (long rains). The safari component is excellent June–October; Zanzibar is best December–March and June–October.
- How much time do we actually get on the beach? You arrive in Zanzibar on the afternoon of day 4, giving you the evening in Stone Town. Day 5 includes the spice farm in the morning followed by the beach from early afternoon. Day 6 is a full beach day with an afternoon dhow cruise. Day 7 gives you a final morning. In total, you have approximately 2.5 days of beach and ocean time — perfect for decompressing after the safari.
- Can this be extended with more beach time? Very easily. Our 10-day and 14-day safari-and-beach combinations offer more beach days. We can also customise this itinerary — adding extra nights in Zanzibar, or swapping Zanzibar for Pemba Island, Mafia Island (whale sharks, seasonal) or Fanjove Private Island. Just tell us your ideal duration and we will shape it.
- Is Zanzibar safe for tourists? Yes. Zanzibar is a peaceful, tourist-friendly destination with a long history of welcoming visitors. Stone Town is best explored with a guide for navigation and cultural context. Beach resorts have excellent security. We recommend dressing modestly in Stone Town (covering shoulders and knees) out of respect for the predominantly Muslim culture. On the beach, normal resort wear is fine.
