Why This 3-Day Safari Works Beautifully
Designed for travelers who want the essence of Tanzania in a long weekend, this safari wastes no time. You land at Kilimanjaro International Airport and are airborne again within hours on a bush flight to the Serengeti — no long road transfers, no wasted days. By afternoon you are on your first game drive, watching lions stretch in the golden light.

Day two delivers the Ngorongoro Crater — 25,000 animals in a natural amphitheatre, the densest concentration of predators in Africa. By lunchtime on day three you are back at the airport, carrying memories that feel like weeks of safari compressed into three extraordinary days.

Arrival & First Game Drive in the Serengeti

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport where your private guide meets you. Transfer to Arusha Airport for a scenic bush flight into the Serengeti. After a welcome lunch at your camp, depart on your first afternoon game drive. The Serengeti's central Seronera Valley is known for exceptional year-round predator sightings — lion prides, leopards in sausage trees and cheetahs scanning the plains. Sundowner drinks at a scenic viewpoint as the sun sets over the endless plains. Dinner and overnight at your luxury tented camp.

Day 2

Ngorongoro Crater — A Full Day in the Natural Amphitheatre

Spend the full day on the crater floor tracking black rhino, large-tusked elephants, lion prides and spotted hyena clans. Picnic lunch beside a hippo pool. The crater walls create a breathtaking backdrop to every sighting. Late afternoon ascent to your lodge on the crater rim with panoramic views.

Day 3

After lunch in the park, transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward flight — arriving with time to spare for international connections.

Useful Information

  • Best Time to Go Year-round, with the dry season (June–October) offering the most reliable game viewing. January–March is calving season in the southern Serengeti with exceptional predator action. April–May sees fewer visitors and lush green scenery at lower rates.
  • Is three days really enough for a Tanzanian safari? Yes — when planned expertly. This itinerary uses bush flights instead of long road transfers, saving you 8+ hours of driving. You experience two of Africa's greatest wildlife destinations (Serengeti and Ngorongoro) with a total of 4 game drives plus a full crater day. Many of our clients book this as a long-weekend add-on to a business trip or as a standalone short break.
  • What wildlife can I expect to see in three days? On a typical 3-day safari, guests see lions (often multiple prides), elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, spotted hyenas, jackals, and a wide variety of antelope and bird species. Leopards and cheetahs are seen on approximately 70% of trips. Black rhino in the Ngorongoro Crater has roughly a 60% sighting rate. The Seronera Valley in the central Serengeti is one of Africa's most reliable areas for big cat sightings.
  • Can this itinerary be extended? Absolutely. Many guests add a night in the Serengeti (making it a 4-day safari) or extend with 3–4 nights on Zanzibar for a beach conclusion. We can tailor the length to your schedule — just let us know your available dates.
