- Is Mauritius just a beach destination? Not at all. Mauritius has some of the most diverse inland scenery of any Indian Ocean island — mountains, gorges, waterfalls, coloured earth, botanical gardens and a fascinating cultural blend. This itinerary balances beach time with cultural and natural exploration. The food alone — a fusion of Creole, Indian, Chinese and French cuisines — is worth the journey.
