Step into the heart of Uganda on this unforgettable 11-day journey, where the golden savannah meets the emerald rainforest. From Murchison Falls to Bwindi, this adventure takes you through Uganda’s iconic landscapes and wildlife havens. The trip includes game drives in Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth National Parks, chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest, gorilla trekking in Bwindi, scenic boat cruises on the Nile and Kazinga Channel, a search for tree-climbing lions in Ishasha, time at Lake Bunyonyi, and a visit to Lake Mburo National Park. Along the way, you’ll meet local communities, learn about traditional ways of life, and have the chance to volunteer at a school supporting orphans and vulnerable children. The itinerary runs from arrival in Entebbe through return to Entebbe on Day 11.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport – Entebbe

Arrival and transfer to hotel in Entebbe.

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport, meet your Amatsiko Tours guide, and transfer to your first accommodation. Enjoy initial views of Uganda and Lake Victoria. Accommodation: Hotel Seven Ssonsea.

Day 2: Ziwa Rhino Tracking & Murchison Falls

Track rhinos at Ziwa and travel to Murchison Falls National Park.

Drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for guided bush walk rhino tracking, then continue to Murchison Falls National Park and, if time allows, visit the Top of the Falls. Wildlife viewing may include elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, and leopard. Accommodation: Pakuba Safari Lodge.

Day 3: Game Drive & Nile Boat Safari

Morning game drive and afternoon boat safari on the Victoria Nile.

Take a morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park, then a boat safari along the Victoria Nile to the base of Murchison Falls. Spot hippos, crocodiles, birdlife, and hike to the top of the falls. Accommodation: Pakuba Safari Lodge.

Day 4: Journey to Kibale Forest

Scenic drive to Kibale Forest with optional community walk.

Travel south to Kibale Forest National Park through tea plantations and rolling hills. Optional guided community walk in the afternoon. Kibale is home to 13 primate species. Accommodation: Kibale Forest Camp.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Wetlands

Chimpanzee tracking and visit to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary.

Track chimpanzees in Kibale Forest with one hour for standard tracking, or upgrade to the Chimpanzee Habituation Experience for up to four hours. Explore Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary and optionally visit crater lakes, local families, or take a night walk. Accommodation: Kibale Forest Camp.

Day 6: Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Drive across the Equator and enjoy an afternoon game drive.

Travel from Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park, stopping at the Equator. In the afternoon, go on a game drive to look for lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, and leopard. Accommodation: Baboon Safari Lodge.

Day 7: Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Cruise

Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel.

Start with a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, then take a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, known for hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds. Transfer to Ishasha for overnight stay. Accommodation: Topi Lodge.

Day 8: Ishasha Tree-Climbing Lions & Journey to Bwindi

Early game drive in Ishasha and transfer to Bwindi.

Look for tree-climbing lions in Ishasha, then continue through villages and rolling hills to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to mountain gorillas. Accommodation: Rushaga Gorilla Lodge.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking & Lake Bunyonyi

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi and relaxation at Lake Bunyonyi.

Join a ranger briefing and trek into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to spend one hour with a gorilla family. Afterward, travel to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation and swimming. Accommodation: Bunyonyi Safaris Resort.

Day 10: Community Volunteering & Lake Mburo Safari

Visit Amatsiko Preparatory School and continue to Lake Mburo National Park.

Spend the morning at Amatsiko Preparatory School supporting orphans and vulnerable children through classroom interaction and activities. Then travel to Lake Mburo National Park for an afternoon game drive. Accommodation: Eagles Nest.

Day 11: Nature Walk & Return to Entebbe

Guided nature walk in Lake Mburo and return to Entebbe.

Take an early guided nature walk in Lake Mburo National Park, then return to Entebbe with lunch en route and a final stop at the Equator.
