Our 14-day trip brings you the highlights of Uganda, where the savannah meets the rainforest. The itinerary includes Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale Forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi National Park, Lake Bunyonyi, and Kigali City in Rwanda. It features wildlife viewing, chimpanzee tracking, gorilla trekking, boat cruises, cultural visits, volunteering, and scenic transfers across Uganda and into Rwanda.

Itinerary

Day 1 Entebbe Airport – Entebbe

Arrival and transfer to hotel.

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by your professional guide and transferred to your hotel. You can settle in and enjoy a restful evening.

Day 2 Entebbe – Murchison Falls National Park

Rhino trekking at Ziwa and transfer to Murchison Falls.

Drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a White Rhino bush walk and guided rhino trekking on foot, then continue to Murchison Falls National Park and visit the top of the falls if time allows.

Day 3 Murchison Falls National Park

Game drive and boat ride on the Victoria Nile.

Enjoy an early morning game drive, followed by an afternoon boat ride on the Victoria Nile to the bottom of the falls and a hike to the top of the falls.

Day 4 Murchison Falls National Park – Kibale Forest

Transfer to Kibale and cultural experience.

Drive to Kibale Forest, visit a local community, and enjoy the Bigodi Wetland Walk before dinner.

Day 5 Kibale Forest

Chimpanzee trek and community cultural experience.

After a ranger briefing, start the morning chimpanzee trek. After lunch, visit local homes and take part in traditional activities, with an optional night walk available.

Day 6 Kibale Forest – Queen Elizabeth National Park

Transfer via the equator and afternoon game drive.

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, pass the equator on the way, and enjoy an afternoon game drive.

Day 7 Queen Elizabeth National Park

Game drive and Kazinga Channel boat trip.

Take a morning game drive and an afternoon boat trip on the Kazinga Channel.

Day 8 Queen Elizabeth National Park – Ishasha

Chimp tracking and game drive for tree-climbing lions.

Track chimpanzees in Kyambura Gorge and then drive to Ishasha for a game drive in search of tree-climbing lions.

Day 9 Ishasha – Bwindi Impenetrable

Morning game drive and transfer to Bwindi.

Enjoy an early morning game drive in Ishasha to see tree-climbing lions, then transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable.

Day 10 Bwindi Impenetrable

Gorilla tracking.

Depart early with a ranger to search for mountain gorillas and spend one hour with them.

Day 11 Bwindi Impenetrable – Kabale

Batwa community visit and transfer to Kabale.

Visit the local Batwa community, take part in traditional activities and a community walk, then transfer to Kabale for an overnight stay.

Day 12 Volunteering at Amatsiko Preparatory School-Community and Cultural Experience at Lake Bunyonyi

Volunteer at the school, then transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for cultural activities and a boat cruise.

Spend the morning volunteering at Amatsiko Preparatory School, then transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for basket weaving, a cooking class, a visit to a herbalist, and a boat cruise around historic islands including Punishment Island.

Day 13 Lake Bunyonyi – Relax and Reconnect

Relaxation day at Lake Bunyonyi.

A slow and peaceful day to rest and enjoy the lake. Optional activities mentioned include swimming, nature walks, journaling, or relaxing in a hammock.

Day 14 Lake Bunyonyi – Kigali

Transfer to Kigali with city tour and airport drop-off.

Travel to Kigali for departure, enjoy a city tour including the Kigali Genocide Memorial, and transfer to the airport.

  • Best Time: June to August and December to February. Bring comfortable walking shoes and light clothing for warm days. Gorilla trekking permits are limited—book early. Some drives between parks can be long but very scenic. Travelers can customize the trip and adjust sample itineraries to their preferences. Uganda is generally stated to be a very safe country to visit when traveling with an organized tour, but basic precautions are advised.
